FreshStart Literacy recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each participant, Adult and child alike. The organizations underlying mission is to foster a love of learning. We celebrate diversity and strive to instill integrity, compassion and confidence in each participant. We give each participant support and encouragement to become his or her own unique self.
The program provides children, parents, and other caregivers with support and vital information about the essential role that education, especially literacy plays in eradicating the destructive cycle of family illiteracy.
Parents are typically eager to assist in terms of their children's educational development however, due to the lack of time in double-income households, deficient parental literacy, and familial financial constraints many are neither able to teach nor able to finance their children’s supplemental educational endeavors. This is where the FreshStart Literacy meets the need by providing its services made available by sliding scale payments, government and foundational grants as well as other funding options.
As a non-profit, charitable service organization dedicated to the elimination of illiteracy, FreshStart Literacy’s main objective is to eradicate illiteracy within families and serve as a resource for community stakeholders who seek to enrich the lives of families thus restoring communities. We want families not only to develop a love of reading but to become lifelong learners and advocate for… and leave a living legacy of education for generations to come!
